It sounds like you have what is known as hyperkeratosis, or when the lining of your mouth gets thicker to try and protect itself (from the smoking). The floor of the mouth however is what is known as a ‘high risk’ site for developing oral cancer and especially since you have one of the most dangerous risk factors (smoking) it would be worth going to your dentist for your peace of mind.
