I can feel a VERY small bump in the roof of my mouth near the back, what is it?

I just recently noticed there is a extremely small bump in the roof of my mouth, near the back.

It doesn’t cause me any pain. Even if I forcefully push on it, maybe just a little discomfort, but absolutley nothing I would take a painkiller for.

What is it? I seem to have just noticed it, and it feels extremely smooth.
It doesn’t feel like it is like an empty pocket, it feels like just a bump…
Wow..now that you mention the tooth thing, I guess it could be it. It isn’t really close to any teeth, and it is the size of 1 fourth of a dime, but I guess it would make sense.

It could be that you have a defined bone in your mouth.

It could also jsut be an irritation from food or a retainer.

but it might be an infections because gums tend to swell when infected. If that is the case just swish some salt water around in your mouth 2 times a day to get rid of it.

I have a friend who pointed out the same thing to me, although hers was relatively large (about the size of a small tooth) and under her tongue on the bottom of her mouth. Turns out it was a piece of bone sticking out. It was harmless and the dentist said it was no big deal. I forget what it was called though

If I had to guess, it is where your hard palate ends and where your soft palate begins. However, if it grows in size or causes pain, I would get it checked out. I think you are fine though:)

Sounds like a canker sore but they are usually painful, if it does become painful go to any drug store and look in the oral antiseptic area for ointment or ask the pharmacist! Peace! BTW of course if it doesn’t heal in a couple of days get it checked by a professional!

You’re asking for a diagnosis. You cannot get an online diagnosis, not even from an MD. Only an MD, NP or PA who has actually examined you and who has seen the node can give you a probable diagnosis.

This node may have been there all along and went unnoticed. It’s possible that it may be a small torus, exostosis or benign polyp but this is not a diagnosis. If it causes no pain and doesn’t increase in size or begin to bleed, it can wait until you have a routine dental or medical appointment, or you need to be seen for some other reason.
