How to draw Hamtaro

The cute and cuddly Hamtaro is a golden hamster with an insatiable curiosity. He leads an exciting life for a small hamster as he ventures out each day to make friends and go on adventures with fellow hamster friends, The Ham-Hams.

With light grey pencil I started by drawing a broad circle as the guideline for Hamtaro’s head. Two big bumps on either side for his ears and a big rounded W shape makes his body. Two little bumps at the ends of the W make the guidelines for his feet and I’ve drawn two stick lines for his arms.

His eyes are circles, and his mouth makes another little W shape.

I’ve put in details with a black pencil. Up-down lines make the fur on top of his head and his hands and feet are done in the same way. The big white circular highlights in his eyes are what make Hamtaro’s eyes look shiney. I did his whiskers with a thin black pencil.

After erasing the guidelines with white pencil, I coloured Hamtaro with the paint bucket tool. I’ve used transparent colours and added details over them with darker transparent shades done with the airbrush.

I’ve done the background in shades of blue which I’ve merged using middle shades.
