Why do different types of candy make my mouth sore?

I’ve noticed that not only sour candy makes my tongue sore, but other as well. I was just recently eating some of those skittles with the different flavored cores in them, and by the time I was done, my mouth felt awful :S

Just curious as to why this is happening, and if you know any remedies to this, that would be greatly appreciated as well ^ ^

acids and ingredients in the candy make your mouth react differently. nut mostly when there is some kind of acid or citrus

Those oversized jaw breakers and Necco wafers do this to me, too! :( My guess is the sour artificial flavors and sucking on the candies too hard.
