Remove your activated carbon from your filter, and then add the medicine on your next water change (less medicine is always better than too much, follow dosage as directed.) Raising the temperature a few degrees also helps speed up the recovery process, aquarium salt does this as well. Now the best prevention to getting any disease is to do routine water changes and testing your water parameters monthly or when things do not look right.
